Discuss CLCP Concept Brief
What is Corporate Leadership Council of Pakistan (CLCP)?
CLCP is a national community of senior managers and organisations with strategic interests in advancement of management education and practice. CLCP represents the combined influence of its members to:
- Establish a world class ‘School of Management’ in Pakistan
- Advance quality management education through accreditation and thought leadership
- Pursue talent farming initiaives for university level management programs
- Serve as a platform for senior managers to share their knowledge and experience, for uplift of professional education, training, practice, and regulation of job market
Background:
Progressive companies and managers, for their progress, rely on identification, recruitment, retention, and development of talent. Universities supply this critical input to industry. There is no example of any nation with thriving corporate sector and without functioning higher education system. In fact very hot economies like USA rely on talent harvesting from around the world to drive and sustain their growth. Various very successful companies also actively recruit internationally.
While institutions may be a reflection of the society, successful Universities have the power to shape society. If you could, imagine the influence an institution like Harvard could have had on destiny of this country.
The biggest intervention that can be made today for betterment of people in this country is to establish one world class university in Pakistan. Of all the stakeholders i.e. government, academics, students, and corporate sector, the corporate sector is the most well positioned to deliver on this dream, simply by throwing it’s weight behind such an effort.
The collective influence of the top tier companies in Pakistan can serve as a catalyst for establishing a focal point strong enough to attract the best students and best teachers and practitioners to learn, teach and to think – the basic ingredients for a top of the line University.
Individual Membership:
Membership of the council is open to business, political and intellectual leaders in their individual capacity. Characteristics of Members include:
- Their rank among the top companies within their industry
- The national dimension of their activities
- A leading role in shaping the future of their industry
- A commitment to advancement of management education and practice
Corporate Partnership:
Partners are select companies who strongly support the councils objectives to improve the state of Management education and practice. They contribute their expertise and resources at the highest level in order to advance realization of council goals.

Dear tayyab,
It is a good effort but why just “a world class School of Management” for the whole of Pakistan. Are we trying to replicate LUMS? An other facility for elite in the name of education and off course with either the public money or the educational aid come to “Pakistan”. What about the schools of management in every Govt. owned University and an checked jumma bazar of private Universities operating in one or two kannal houses with part time teaching staff and even “Deans”.
Is it a Govt. project? as the phone number starts with 92…..

Dear Mehdi sb.
Firstly, the effort is not a government project. It is an independent association of corporate and intellectual leaders who intend to use their weight for improvement of higher education in management. The number is my work number and I happen to be working at Air University, in islamabad.
I tend to agree with your idea in the sense that once the group starts rolling, it should scrutinize the ‘jumma bazaars’ of higher education. The council will also serve as an accreditation body, thereby adressing the concern you have raised.
Also, the goal would not be to replicate LUMS. The nation of 160 million deserves atleast one world class school. We have all the resources. This council will provide a focal point for the resources, human and material to converge for realization of this dream.
